Welcome to the Archer Hotel
After 10 months and $4 million worth of redevelopment, The Archer now features fantastically renovated old-meets-new eating and bar areas, an excellent beer garden, atrium, lounge room, large balcony, fully functional fireplaces, a charming original wooden staircase and outdoor dining on both O’Connell and Archer streets.
By not replastering the exposed brickwork from the demolition, the deconstruct features evoke a work in progress feel. The new drainage and air-conditioning ducts have largely been left exposed, contrasting the new fit out with the original fabric of the building. The result is a funky feel of old and new coming together.
The refurbishment has been conducted in consultation with State Heritage, ensuring the charm and character of the original building, a Lutheran Church library and offices, is retained.
